Thank you for using FlowLock ("the Extension"), developed by Tanish Sharma ("we," "us," or "our"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy is designed to provide clear and transparent information about how the Extension handles your data.

The core principle of FlowLock is privacy by design. The Extension is built to function entirely on your local device.

1. Data Collection and Storage: Everything is Local

FlowLock does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal data to any external servers or third parties. All data generated and used by the Extension is stored exclusively on your local computer using the browser's built-in storage (chrome.storage API).

The types of data stored locally on your device include:

• User Settings: All configurations you set, such as the duration of focus timers, short breaks, and long breaks, as well as preferences for notifications, sounds, and auto-start features. This data is necessary to personalize your Pomodoro experience.
• To-Do List Data: The tasks you add to the "Focus Tasks" list, including their text and completion status. This data is essential for the to-do list feature to function.
• Website Lists: The URLs you add to your "Allowlist" and "Blocklist." This data is required for the core website blocking feature to work as you configure it.
• Productivity Statistics: Anonymous usage data, such as the number of focus sessions completed and the total focus time. This data is collected only if you enable it in the settings and is used to power your personal "Statistics" dashboard. This information is not viewable by us and is never transmitted off your device.

2. Permissions and Their Justification

FlowLock requests certain permissions to provide its features. We are committed to requesting the narrowest possible permissions necessary. Here is an explanation of why each permission is required:

• storage: This permission is essential to save your settings, to-do lists, website lists, and statistics locally on your device. Without it, your configurations would be lost every time you close your browser.
• tabs and host_permissions (<all_urls>): These permissions are required for the website blocking feature. The Extension needs to check the URL of the website you are visiting to determine if it should be blocked according to your personal rules (i.e., if it is on your blocklist or if you are in a focus session). Your browsing history is not monitored, saved, or transmitted. The permission is used solely to enable the blocking functionality in real-time.
• alarms: This permission is used to run the Pomodoro timer accurately in the background, ensuring that timers continue to count down even if the popup is closed.
• notifications: This permission allows the Extension to show you a desktop notification when a focus or break session has ended.
• offscreen: This permission is used to play audio alerts for timer completions reliably without needing a visible tab to be open.

3. Data Security

The data stored by FlowLock is protected by the security measures of your web browser. Since the data never leaves your computer, it is not exposed to the risks associated with data transmission over the internet.

4. Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data. You can clear all locally stored data at any time by using the "Clear All Data" button in the Extension's settings. Uninstalling the Extension will also permanently delete all of its associated data from your device.

5. Third-Party Services

FlowLock does not integrate with any third-party services for analytics, advertising, or data processing.

6. Children's Privacy

This Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
